Heterosexual or same sex (happens regardless of sexual orientation) All ages, races, and socioeconomic groups are susceptible. Perpetrator may have been abused or witness abuse: strongest predictor. Child abuse: unexplained injuries, conflicting stories, role reversal (child acting like parent or vice versa, fear of people or being overly and oddly loving of strangers. Neglect: physical, emotional or educational needs not being met or available for child growth and development. Sexual abuse: mainly women less than 24years old, alcohol and other drug use, rates underestimated.
