Utilitarian philosophy: if the american"s failure to donate the money leads one more kid to die on the streets, then it is, in some sense, just as bad as selling the kid to the organ peddlers. Ex: bob & his bugatti (by peter unger) Bob sees that a train is headed towards a child, and he can switch the lever so it hits his. Most of us would agree that this conduct is wrong - so peter unger reminds us that we, too, have the opportunity to save the life of a child and choose not to.
