Document Summary
Aerophones- instruments that sound by means of vibrating air, one of 5 main classes of instruments in the sachs-hornbostel system, subdivided into trumpets and horns, pipes, flutes, reed and free aerophones. The range of harmonics produced by an aerophone is determined by the size/shape of the inside of the instrument called the bore. Aerophones often have reeds and are termed single or double reed instruments. Single reed instruments have a mouthpiece that vibrates against the instruments while double reed vibrates against itself.
