Shedding : picking , beating-up , take-up . Patterning capabilities: -different types of pattern making looms =dobby, jacquard, lappet, doup. Computers and electronic monitors automation helps reduce defects. Loom efficiency -shuttle looms are being replaced with faster, quieter, more versatile looms (see below). 1. shuttleless: more common now and quicker and quieter than shuttle looms (which were industry standard) Count: warp x filling (40 x 50) can be given as total if balanced (45 x 45 =90) Balance: ratio warp to filling balanced= 1:1 unbalanced = 2:1 or 1:2 balanced 78 x 78 unbalance 144 x 76.
