The use of hygiene was what made the romans renown among ancient civilizations. Hygiene played a huge role in shaping the social, environmental, and technological aspects of rome. New discoveries and innovations were constantly happening during the height of the roman empire. In fact, much of the hygienic discoveries back then, still play a role in our society today. In my opinion, if wasn"t for the romans setting the standards for hygiene, the earth wouldn"t be as populous as we see it today. Hygiene was important to the roman empire, because of the huge shifts of social standards and the new inventions that were being created. Thus, this aided in rome becoming the world"s first superpower. First and foremost, to understand hygiene in its proper context, one must examine the reasons the romans needed it.
