Information that only some or one character(s) know(s) Some plays contain unnecessary information for their exposition, but with playwrights that you trust, assume that the information is directly relevant to the action. At its best, exposition involves the use of information by one character to propel another character into action. Forwards: forwards anything that arouses and audience"s interest in things that are yet to come, dramatic tension requires the audience to desire to find out what is coming up next. The greater the audience"s desire, the more active and involved the audience is. There are many techniques used to increase audience interest. Key in spotting elements that the playwright considers important. Characters: characters largely revealed through their actions, even the best plays present only a skeleton of a character.
