Publius caludius pulcher sneaks in dressed like a women *believed the reason is he was going to see caesars wife, pompeia. Accused of incestum (unchaste behavior) and charges are brought against him. Violation of religious norms usually ends in execution. Casesar divorces his wife so as not to be further in scandal and does not testify against puncher: 60 bce. Senate tries to oppose but is blocked. Pompey - - wants land and acta. Caesar - - wants consulship and debt relief. Crassus - - wants money: 59 bce. Julius caesar is elected consul along with m. calpurnicus biblus. Caesar immediately tries to ful ll pompey"s desire for land for his veterans. Cato speaks against this but he is ignored by caesar when he goes straight to the commitiae tributa.
