Two types of software: system software- works with computer hardware to handle the majority of technical details, application software, general-purpose applications- word docs, spreadsheets, presentations, specialized applications- thousands of other programs focused on more specific things, mobile apps. User interface- the portion of the application that allows you to control and interact with the program. Gui- graphical user interface, has icons, pointer, and window. Galleries simplify the process of making a selection from a list of alternatives because it lists the outcomes of all the alternatives. Word processors- create text based documents, flexible and heavily used. (word) Spreadsheets- organize, analyze, and graph numeric data such as financial reports. Database management system (dbms)- program that sets up a database. Desktop publishing programs or page layout programs- (microsoft publisher) 2 types of electronic photo are stock photograph and clip art. Html editors- provide support for website design in terms of html coding.
