Zuckerberg has changed this mission statement two or three times over the years. Human capital knowledge you accumulate over time that you can use to be successful. A measure of our relationships, connections to other people. It"s not what you know, it"s who you know . Sense of belonging, diversity, networks, feelings of trust and safety, reciprocity, participation, citizen power/proactivity, values/norms/outlook on life. We don"t bowl alone (based on book by robert putnam) because it"s weird, it"s a group activity. There has been a decline in social capital (involvement in public life, communal life, neighborliness) Erodes a greater sense of community and participation in civic/public life (meeting, voting, giving, trusting, visiting) When social capital declines we care less, we give less, we consume less news and information, we spend less time with our friends.
