GEOL 150Lg Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Gravitational Constant
Document Summary
Scieniic method: quesions, hypotheses, theory- explicit expression of a way in which something happens. Abducive- guessing, inferring on the basis of tests the proporion of truth in the hypothesis. A conclusion is reached by reducing possibiliies that do/do not follow rules. (do observaions it the predicted consequences of the hypothesis?) Inducive- premises seek to supply strong evidence for the truth. Forces: in physics, a force is any interacion that when unopposed will change the moion of an object. A force can cause an object with mass to increase or decrease its velocity (accelerate) Newton"s 1st: an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by a diferenial force. Newton"s 3rd: when an object with mass applies force, that force is applied back. Momentum- describes an objects mass and its velocity. Objects with constant mass moving in some direcion have momentum.
