Film captures realism better than any other art form o. Forced other art forms to adapt to other styles. Us: movies met the needs of immigrants and lower classes o o o first audience because they were cheap and easily accessible. Taught them how to behave in us society. Social activity - they were no longer alone. Movies put people in touch with their own instincts & pleasures (dream life) Represent tensions & conflict in our lives - help solve them. Producer - hiring, organization, obtain financial means for movie.
