Uses a single score to represent the entire sample. Sum of the scores, divided by the number of scores. Changing the value of a score changes the mean. The midpoint of scores when listed in order from smallest to largest. Divides a distribution into two groups of equal size. In an odd-numbered distribution, the middle score is the median. In an even-numbered distribution, average the two middle scores for the median. Score/category with greatest frequency in the distribution. Can be used with any scale of measurement.
