Document Summary

English 303: introduction to literary theory and criticism. There are a few things to remember as you work on the exam. If/when you"re feeling unsure, consult them and measure your writing according to them: Short answer means approximately five to eight sentences, exactly as it did on your plato/aristotle quiz. While you have no restrictions on which questions you answer, it"s a good idea to demonstrate a breadth of knowledge. So choose questions you think you can best answer, but don"t just pick two questions on each of three authors. When possible or relevant, give specific textual references that is, quote the text! It"s rare that a response totally without quotations deserves a full 10 points. Don"t waste time writing your essay in part one. Part of crafting a good response involves being precise and succinct at the same time.
