Categorical variable : a variable with a fixed meaning or attribute. Operationalize definitions : label and describe the variables of interest. Define specifically what your variable of interest is in detail. Validity : does it measure what it is supposed to measure; is the measurement. Reliability : do you get consistent measurement results when repeated. Get a clue on how people think and what they think. We can also get data from this. Allows for systematic observation the manipulation independent variable in the experiment. Explores changes in variables of interest under controlled conditions.
