Document Summary

This film looks into the lives of five members of a family that lives in turkey that walk on their hands and feet, known as quadrupedal locomotion. What is interesting about these members of the ulas family is that some of their brothers and sisters walk completely normally, as well as their parents. Most have concluded that the reason these individuals are like this is due to a genetic abnormality. This genetic abnormality is thought to have resulted in a cerebellar ataxia and it is also thought that cerebellar hypoplasia is present in these individuals. Hypoplasia of the cerebellum is a condition where the cerebellum is smaller than normal or that it hasn"t completely developed. Some of the traits that can be associated with this are ataxia, intentional tremor, and mental retardation, which are traits that were observed in the quadrupedal siblings of this family.
