Period between the wars is a period of change. Relative self-government in egypt, increase in indian self-government. 20s and 30s dominions gained even more self-government. Communist parties around the world tended to be nationalist. Included members that were strongly opposed to imperialism, also had people who saw the value of empire in terms of economy, also included people who saw the empire as something that needed reform, but not necessarily abolish it. Between the two world wars in some aspects british imperialism got even more intense. Australia federated in 1901, one of the things that made it happen was to establish explicit racial rules, white australia policy, deport people who weren"t white, barred aboriginal australians from counting as citizens. New zealand, measures to attract white emigrants and restrict non- Caribbean policies that made it harder for black people to enter, made it easy for whites to enter. End of wwii, british empire was bigger than it had been going in.
