Document Summary

Microbes use toxins in order to hijack the host cells and use them for their own benefit. There are many different types of toxins that all have different functions and effects on the host cell. These are small bits of the microbial cell that will cause an unregulated inflammatory response if let into the body. So if an antibiotic is an bactericide, then it will lyse the microbe but it will let the endotoxins into the body, which will cause inflammation which is not good. These are the pamps - lps antigens. Superantigens that cause an unregulated inflammatory response in the host. Results in the hyperactivation of the t cells in the host. These toxins work outside the host cell. Exoenzymes are enzymes that are secreted into the interstitial space that act on the host cell by cleaving off proteins and other molecules that are attached on the surface of the host cell.
