What is a pit bull : not a true breed: A pit bull is a geneic term used to describe one of the below breeds, any mix of these breeds, or any dog exhibiing common physical characterisics of these breeds (can also include other purebred dogs) **pictures in slides. Dogs bred over ime for many diferent funcions. Bull baiing and dog ighing: work dogs. Litle rascals: other media igures, famous owners. Increases their appeal with people having poor intenions. In reality, the majority are kept as family pets by responsible owners. Pit bulls are just the newest breed to be targeted . Allow dogs to roam: neglect or abuse dogs. Allow unsupervised children to be around unfamiliar dogs. The human is the biggest variable in dog aggression. Resident dogs: maintained exclusively on chains or in yards, obtained for negaive funcions which encourage aggression, no posiive human interacions, kept isolated. Do not exhibit the same behaviors as family dogs.
