Air filled cavities that are lined with mucous membranes. Directly or indirectly connected to the nasal cavity. Thought to act as resonating cavities for the voice. Lamina papyracea separates sinuses from the eye socket. Inside the ethmoid bone between the eyes and turbinate: frontal sinuses. Two triangular shaped cavities at the base of the frontal bone: maxillary sinuses. Cavities within the maxillary bone: sphenoid sinus. In the anterior body of the sphenoid bone behind the ethmoid sinuses, opening into the nasal cavities. Iris elastic membrane between the cornea and the lens. Anterior chamber between the iris and cornea. Posterior chamber between the iris and lens. Suspensory ligament suspends the lens in the eyeball. Vitreous humor fills the area between the lens and retina.
