Everybody in the community is responsible for developing their personal relationship with god. As a community, they also have a community relationship with god, to make sure that everybody is doing the right thing. Puritans believe that if everybody is doing the right thing under the commonwealth, then god will do his favor to the community. Growing crops, good weather, good health, good wealth, etc. If one person does the opposite, then the whole will face his wrath. The community is very quick to punish you. They make sure that you go to church, not gamble, treat neighbors equally. They can exile you from the community, if you can do what you"re supposed to do. If returned, they have a policy to execute you. They entered in new england that is mostly populated with the indians. They want to bring christianity to the indian, take their land, convert them to their belief.
