The format of some grub2 global commands are different than grub legacy commands, such as grub_timeout instead of just timeout. A linux system is composed of lots of programs running in the background that provide services for the system. The init program starts all of those programs when the linux system starts up. You must configure the initialization process to start programs based on the desired features you want running in your linux system. For example, a linux server doesn"t necessarily need to start a graphical desktop environment, or a linux desktop doesn"t necessarily need to start the apache.
