Document Summary

Lecture 25: lasts 28 days interrupted by pregnancy, follicular phase. Follicle and ovum grow to mature follicle. Estrogen= endometrial prolif, in prep for late phase of mens. Low levels prevent fsh and lh release. High levels lead to release of all lh late fp: halts estrogen synthesis, fsh program turns off, trigger ovulation process- prostaglandin release, ovulatory pathways. Inhibins= down regulate gnrh secretion, and prevens fsh secretion. Lh= released in response to high estrogen levels: ovulation- mature ova is released, luteal phase presence of corpus luteum. Progesterone= inhibit release of lh and fsh, diminish w/o implantation. Inhibin= neg regulates fsh and gnrh: hormonal control. Endometrial degradation loss of ovarian hormones, vasoconstriction: proliferative phase- endometrial layer repairs and regenerates due to estrogen, progestational phase- endometrium is vascularized and glycogen packed. Sexual response cycle: four phases: excitement, plateau, orgasm, resolution. If stimuli is not up to par, later phases not achieved: refractory phase= stimulation not lead to arousal.
