The bottom line: natural differences are often social differences. Anthropologists argue that all humans share common origins. As europeans traveled, they encountered different sorts of people, and created the concept of race. Meanwhile, new populations of poor white immigrants arrived. Different treatment could be justifies by eugenics (human evolution) ex. Eugenic ideas are still used in pop culture and played for laughs.
