Factors associated with positive attachments: warmth, sensitivity, and quickness in responding to infant needs, expressivity especially of much positive emotion toward infant, availability. Just because you"re there doesn"t mean you"re there (mentally) Temperament: easy babies are easier than tough babies or slow to warm-up babies. Attachment as a foundation : erikson trust vs. mistrust, trust looks a lot like secure attachment, attachment affects cognitive development (exploration of environment, caregiver as a source of stimulation, teaching, attachments effect peer relationships and complexity of interactions. Attachment conclusions: attachment is, foundational in development for all systems (bio-psycho-social-spiritual, continually influencing all social relationships and personal well-being across the lifespan, continually developing as we relate to others.
