Ruminants: no true stomach has 4 compartments, pre-gastric before si, major site of digestion, microbial fermentation process of microorganisms, living in git, consuming, reproducing, secreting, and producing the nutrients that are made available. Lots of this before normal gastric processes: reticulum has microbes. This is the largest section of 4 compartments. Referred to as reticulorumen bc they work together and have similar functions: omasum, abomasum gastric secretions.
