Rule of thirds- third of patients will have symptoms resolve, and return to almost normal and may have relapse. One third will show same level of symptoms throughout duration of illness. If symptoms appear in late age, need to first check for other explanations becuase it is unlikely that psychotic symptoms would arise at this time.
