Political blocs that argued that colonies should be independent nations, just like. New nations were created, but the boundaries that colonial empires created became the borders of these newly independent nations. Between the end of wwii and 1980, the number of nations tripled, from 60 ~ 180. Dimensions of how most of the colonized world won independence. They lost a lot of their standing in the world to the us. After fighting in the war, veterans feel entitled to more rights/the same rights as the white soldiers of their ruling countries. Rise of a new educated class in the colonies. Not college educated -- primary and secondary education. The colonial powers were starting to build schools in the colonies. When they created the schools, they also needed to train teachers and these people got higher education (often abroad) They saw the colonial system and didn"t like it.
