Cities were around 25,000 to 50,000 people max. The place is small enough where everyone knows everyone so the people can rule themselves or the lord/king could rule directly. We are unsure what linguistic family it belongs to. Akkadian took over sumerian as the dominant language in the area. Wasn"t a violent thing, akkadian empire expanded and its culture and language with it. Developed a bilingual culture and eventually sumerian was phased out. Went from the persian gulf to the mediterranean. The goal was to rule the world. Came into sumeria, dominated the culture, became the kings. Came from the canaan region of the levant. They rule, but they don"t impose their culture, it just kind of happens. Starts to expand the empire outside babylon. Established a law code that was spread throughout the empire. Spread propaganda about himself to legitimize his rule. Established control by burning everything and salting the earth.
