Ch12 in brain basics - dementia(you don"t sleep) Cognitive science: the interdisciplinary scientific study of mind and its processes. Linguistics: acquisition: how do you learn, innate or not, specific sequence, abstraction: can we think separate from language, pragmatics: apple or object, chomsky, pinker: it is all in the genes, elman: experience based learning. Neuroscience: learning: nature vs. nurture, memory : representation in brain (how neuron represent memory, perception: sensory input- perceive, behavior: represents brain output, disorders: understanding of system. How do we select an appropriate action, given our goals. Topics: central to cognitive science: language, mental representation, intentionality, development, disorders, computational modeling.
