Document Summary
Penis: erectile erotically sensitive genital organ in males. After erection, all penises typically even out in size. Average size on erection is approximately 6. 2 inches. Penises are sturdy but cannot break (no bones), but they can bend! (er situation) Glans penis: same tissue as the glans of the clitoris; shaped like an acorn; very similar to the clitoris in appearance, function, and sensitivity. Foreskin (pupuce): sheath of skin that covers the glans (what is cut off during circumcision) Uncircumcised males are more likely to contract hiv than circumcised males. Uncircumcised males have 3 times the risk of contracting stds compared with circumcised males. Circumcision can help prevent the spread of hiv, but less and less men today are getting circumcised. Smegma: cheesey-like substance secreted from the glands that surround the crown (corona) of the glans; can get caught underneath the foreskin causing infection or adhesions of the foreskin to the glans.
