The bystander effect: a person is less likely to offer help to someone in need when he believes there are others who are aware of the situation and capable of helping. But really, if everyone on earth were to donate 10 dollars we could end all preventable suffering and death. A hypothetical premise should yield a hypothetical conclusion. If everyone donated then you would only be obligated to donate ten. Duty: something that would be wrong not to do. Charity: something that would be good to do, but not wrong not to do. According to singer, donating to charity is not charity it"s a duty.
