ITAL 20X Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Legal Drinking Age, Flight Attendant, Cappuccino
Document Summary
Airport- malpensa: commercial city ($), fashion and art; very vibrant, sales clerks attractive even if don"t know what they"re doing, flight attendants very well put together, never older than 30, beautiful. Italians have been oppressed by rules for centuries; used to not following rules. Italians like small hotels, not chains; want to feel like they"re at home & comfortable; love to travel (have lots of vacay time and adventurous spirit); become homey & keep habits when they"re abroad. Italians are fascist when it comes to food bc must follow rules. Restroom: try to avoid, something always needs to be fixed. Night club: no legal drinking age now it"s 18 but not really encouraged. Political cleavages- historical roots: very young nation/culture (150 years) although country is old, unification in 1800s. Political cultures born in their relation to fascist experience. Lack of a shared italian political culture dominance of party ideologies instead.
