Tone of uterus is too much, every time uterus squeezes it affects placenta and constricts. Too many contractions or contractions too strong. Placenta will start to age and will get old (after 40 weeks), starts to have calcifications on it (grade. Cord around neck causes compression and low fhr. Parasympathetic: stimulation of vagus nerve= decreased fhr. Bowel movement during labor = vagus nerve stimulated. Variability going from 100 to 20 bpm etc. Adrenal glands: fire off fight or flight (parasym and symp)
