Define adolescence: the transition period between childhood and adulthood. Marks the years no longer a child but not an adult yet. Requirements for adulthood are more complex- support a family, get a job, go to college. Economic factors: inflation, economic downward mobility! Economic prospects wont equal or succeed your parents living- more debt coming out of school, cost more for housing. First generation ever to have worst economic prospects than your parents or maybe grandparents generation. The cost of tution succeed the inflation rate. Will not be an adult unless financial on your family- may be muture enough for adulthood but cant because fiances. Pressures in adolescence revolve around identity development- all about three different equal issues: Teachers- vocation test- what jobs you will be good at. Peers- push you to examine your belief and values- points of views about jobs. In early adolescence the tensions revolve more around lifestyle and ideology than around occupation.
