[study of pop and interaction w/ social/econ conditions] Population growth rate: 1% - currently declining increased in 1950s due to access to clean water: rate has decreased from 2% in the 1960s sex ratio m:f decreases as you increase in age. Mortality: males have higher imr than females, 36/1000 imr females have longer life expectancy at birth than males. M/f life expectancy highest in developed countries (almost 2x as much) Population density mostly higher in developed (us, asian, european) than developing countries: 2:1 pop of developing to developed in 1950 vs 6:1 pop developing to developed expected in 2050. Median age and density have increased while fertility rate has decreased.
