Examples include bump analysis- professionals feel where bumps are on a patients head and associate the location with a specific trait. Golgi stain- stains a random subset of cells for details on anatomy and structure. Nissl stain- stains every cell, can see density and organization of cells, but does not provide much detail into the anatomy of a cell.
