Sacrospinous ligament: extends between the ischial spine and the sacrum, encloses the greater sciatic notch & converts it the greater sciatic foramen. Sacrotuberous ligament: extends between the ischial tuberosity and the sacrum. Lesser sciatic foramen: formed by these two joints and contain the obturator internus muscle and the pudendal nerve and vessels. Obturator membrane: covers the obturator foramen, but leaves a small opening (obturator canal) in which the obturator nerves and vessels pass through. Iliolumbar ligament: strong ligament that lies between the transverse process of the lumbar vertebra and the iliac crest. o. It supports the connection of the vertebrae to the hip bone. Narrow; heart shaped wider; oval shaped narrow deeper. Interspinous diameter (not less than 9. 5 cm) Angle of inclination: the neck of the femur connects to the body at a 126 degree angle: wider in children (145) o. Iliofemoral ligament: prevents lateral rotation and dduction of the femur. Ischiofemoral ligament: prevents medial rotation of the femur.
