Document Summary

Base is posterior (left ventricle), and apex is inferolateral (left ventricle) What is found where: right: right atrium. Inferior: consists primarily of the left ventricle: left: left ventricle, superior: great vessels, anterior: mainly by right ventricle, posterior: occupied mainly by left atrium. Cardiac output: the amount of blood pumped into the aorta and pulmonary trunk by the heart, which is equal on the left and right sides. A double-layered serous membrane sac that keeps the heart in the thoracic cavitiy, and protects the heart against sudden overfilling when blood volume increases. Fibrous pericardium: a dense connective tissue membrane the surrounds the heart and the serous pericardium. Pericardial cavity: the space between the two layers of serous membrane, which contains pericardial fluid produced by the serous membrane. The fluid serves as lubrication between the layers and reduces friction between the pericardial membrane. Epicardium gets the blood from heart: venous drainage: azygos and pericardiophrenic vein.
