ZOO 3733C Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Medial Pectoral Nerve, Suprascapular Notch, Glenoid Cavity
Document Summary
Scapula: located on the back of the shoulder. Chapter 6: surfaces: anterior(subscapular) & posterior, spine of the scapula: supraspinous & infraspinous fossae. It bears an expansion laterally called the acromion process, which articulates with the clavicle: three borders: medial, lateral, superior. Suprascapular notch: lies on the superior border of the scapula: three angles: superior, inferior, and lateral. Glenoid cavity: lies at the lateral angle: coracoid process: extends anterolaterally. The two ends have endochondral ossification which appears in the second decade of life, and then they fuse. Carpal bones: located near the wrist joint, arranged in two rows, each row having four bones. All the bones are firmly articulated together to form a unit called the carpal groove: this groove is covered (bridged) by the flexor retinaculum, forming the carpal tunnel. Abduction of the arm, up to 90 degrees. Abductor of the arm, and belongs to the rotator cuff muscle group. Lateral rotator; belongs to the rotator cuff muscle group.
