Document Summary

Criticize- to find fault; to understand and appraise. Criticism- is a systematic, imaginative, study and evaluation of theatrical works (or other art forms. ) Descriptive criticism- describe or gives a recount of observations. Reviewer- one that observes and briefly comments on an event: offers mostly opinions and brief descriptions, doesn"t necessarily have a great understanding of the theatre, usually restricted by time and/or space, may have limited experience with theatre attendance. A play is a series of actions. Traditionally, this is the character the audience should most identify with/want to win: antagonist a character who creates obstacles for the protagonist getting what she/he wants, and who wants something just as badly. Sometimes the antagonist has the same want: a beginning where we find out what the protagonist wants, and why he/she must have it. Linear narrative- when the telling of a story follows a straight line - beginning, middle, end.
