Conscious: thoughts of which we are aware. Preconscious: retrievable info not already in conscious. Id: strive to satisfy basic sexual and aggressive drives. Ego: conscious executive that mediates among the demands of the id, superego and reality. Superego: internalized ideas and provides standards for judgement. Girls suffer from penis envy not the electra complex. Lingering focus of pleasure seeking energies at an earlier psychosexual stage, where con icts were unresolved. Passive dependence or exaggerated denial or grati cation.
