He made a symphony called new world where he used the pentatonic scale that came majorly from native americans and african americans. Opening: call and response pattern with violin and cello. Back and forth between instruments creates timbral variety. Doesn"t use a pentatonic scale like folk music but the melodies sound very simple b they use fewer than the 7 standard notes. Form: this 3rd movement is a scherzo: a lighthearted movement in fast tempo and triple meter. Aba like minuet but sometimes ababa (extra trio section and conclusion) Recapitulatatoion for ending it exactly the same as the beginning. A section: call and response, similar to native americans. Swan lake, nutcracker, sleeping beauty all by tchaikovsky.
