Antigen: any agent recognized as foreign to the body. 5 classes of antibodies all preceded by ig (immunoglobulin) Ig a: found in saliva and mother"s milk. Ig m: first antibody made by the newborns and the first made during an infection. Antibiotics: metabolic product of certain microorganisms that kills or inhibits the growth of other microorganisms. Involves introduction of vaccine that is made from killed or weakened bacteria or viruses. Allergies: an allergy is a secondary immune response to a normally harmless substance. Exposure triggers production of certain antibodies, which release histamines. Most transplant recipients are given drugs to suppress their immune system. Heritable disorder: scid: severe combines immuno deficiency syndrome due outside agents.
