English colonization begins use of proprietary ventures. English settlement becomes about land and territorial acquisitions to commercial ventures glorious revolution -england restores parliament with a limited monarchy colonial impact. Colonial legislatures re-establish their power and authority (becoming more self-suf cient) Colonists believe this legitimizes the idea of colonial rights as englishmen. Colonies view themselves as partners within the british empire. Virginia- key trade & economy: tobacco key to politics: house of burgesses- established the rights of englishmen -appointed governor. Maryland- looked for colonization, wanted freedom and equality land and tobacco were also very important to their development religious con ict & warfare.
