Government is a contract and covenant between the people and the authorities. If they commit an act of tyranny, they will throw it off because they have the right. The right to vote is in the land of the white land owners. The colonists said they were entitled for the same rights and laws. Jews, catholics, and in some cases quakers couldn"t vote. In order to vote you need to own certain amount of property. Political assemblies fit almost perfectly into the british model. The british gave the most rights and laws to the colonists.
