The model of using enslaved people to make sugar originated in madeira. Happened in the 15th century 1400s. Next it happened in brazil in the 16th century 1500s. Next it happened in the west indies/caribbean. Not super likely because racism didn"t exist at the time. Many people had different colors and features, and it didn"t signify anything at all. At this time people were segregated by being born as a noble . Also segregated by religion ex: if you were christian you might think muslims are below you, if you"re muslim you might think christians are below you, but none of that has to do with skin. 1) native american/ amerindian servants or enslaved people. Issue on relying on native american people: rapid death. They can band together and revolt because they may share language, they"re familiar with the land, get allies. 2) european indentured servants or enslaved people.
