Belief change mediated by cognitive dissonance is: Effective over a wide range of situations and issues, including deeply held personal beliefs on politically and socially consequential topics. Another moral: start lying or exaggerating or misleading for a good cause and you"ll wind up believing the falsehoods you convey. Best way to get someone else to believe something: get them to tell someone else for as little reward as will make them do it. As a result we are not typically aware of the details of the visual scene before us. Often unaware of how our memories may mislead us or how we form our beliefs and values. When i am thinking of something, i presumable know precisely what i am thinking about. First person authority: i know my own thoughts.
