Problem: subject has to tie two cords on the ceiling together, but they are two far away to tie by just grabbing them. Number of objects in the room during the experiment. Tie a cord onto the chair then bring it towards the other & then tie them together. Use the white cord as an extension to the one & bringing it over to the other. Holding one cord & using a pole to pull the other one toward you. Attach pliers to cord & swing like pendulum towards the other cord. *solution 4 was the one that people had the most trouble coming up with. Model: meant to show the structure of the maier experiment. Takes place in a room with experimenter & subject. Subjects told they could use anything in the room that they wanted. As soon as subject got a solution, experimenter would instruct them to solve it another way until get all 4 solutions.
