Document Summary

Lawrence kohlberg built his theory of moral development from. Focused on how children"s unfolding ability to reason in a more abstract way might allow them to make different sorts of judgements when it came to moral dilemmas. Like piaget, he posed problems for children and adults. What was the rational they used to reason whether something is moral or immoral. An action is good if it leads to a reward for the person"s own self and an action is considered bad if it leads to punishment. Actions are good if they lead to good relationships or a good society and actions are bad if they lead to bad relationships or harm society. Rules are no longer seen as something that is imposed on the child. Good actions are those that correspond with universal ethical principles. People recognize that an action might be good even if it conflicts with the rules and norms or one"s society.
