Learned helplessness - when animals encounter conditions over which they have no control ( sometimes they get shocked and sometimes they don"t ) Martin seligman"s theory that people become anxious and depressed when they make an attribu-tion that they have no control over the stress in their lives (whether or not they actually have control).
